For the next few days, I will be focusing on making all-natural products for your hair, which is actually just as good for your hair, and a lot less cost-wise!
Shea butter is the decadent, creamy base for this moisturising and reparative conditioner. Its strengthening power comes from the lauric acid in coconut oil, which penetrates the hair shaft to restore essential proteins. Vegetable glycerin absorbs moisture from the air, and antioxidant vitamin E oil repairs follicles, encouraging hair growth. Calming lavender and intoxicating rosemary round out the coconutty aroma.
1 cup shea butter
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
5 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops rosemary essential oil
Heat shea butter in a double boiler just warm enough to melt, then quickly remove from heat. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Let mixture cool for a few minutes, then whip with a whisk until creamy. Store in a squeeze bottle or sealed glass jar. After shampooing, work the conditioner from roots to ends, leave in for 1 to 2 minutes, and rinse.
