Are You Getting Enough Vitamin D?

This is a polarizing topic, but there’s a good chance that you’re not getting enough vitamin D.  Ideal levels are debated, but are likely 50 to 80 ng/ml–it’s a spectrum.  Among older folks, not getting enough of the sunshine vitamin is liked to an increased risk of falls, fractures, and osteoporosis. You can’t say it causes diseases in younger people, but it’s tied to all sorts of complications, from depression to polycystic ovary syndrome.

Basically, there’s still a lot to learn about Vitamin D deficiency, but try to get at least 10-15 minutes of sunlight a day(wear sunscreen of course), or have your vitamin D level checked to see if you need a supplement.
