Rocky Alderman

Are you overweight, exhausted, drink too much soda, and eat too much fast food?

That was Rocky Alderman in 2013.  He felt miserable and didn’t have enough energy to keep up with his four daughters.  He and his wife, Brenna, were introduced to AdvoCare in November 2013 and Brenna began the 24-day-challenge.  After seeing her success, he made the decision to start following the meal suggestions in the 24-Day-Challenge Daily Guide and give AdvoCare products a chance.

He took baby steps at first, like swapping out unhealthy fast food with snacks like DB9AdvoBarand completely cut out soda, replacing it with A7093.  After that, he cut out simple carbs and tried to eat more protein and less processed foods, with lots of encouragement from Brenna.  Over time, he learned to eat smaller meals at regular intervals throughout the day.

After the 24-Day Challenge, I went down two belt notches!  I felt great–the products and my new diet gave me energy I never thought I would have.

The initial success energized Rocky, so he continued his new habits and began working out in April 2014.  His passion for weight lifting was reinvigorated, and he saw an increase in muscle mass.  He attends a boot camp weekly for cardio, and recently picked up a heavy ropes class to see how far he can push himself.  After six months of adding workouts into his  routine, following a healthy diet, and using AdvoCare products, he was down 50 pounds.

This is the smallest I’ve ever been in my life, and I can’t tell you how great it feels to be off the couch and active again.  I want to be an example for my girls and show them how to live an active lifestyle.

Rocky and Brenna spend as much time as they can outdoors with their daughters; they go to the park, play basketball, and visit amusement parks.  Rocky coaches one of his daughter’s basketball teams.  Rocky said it would have been a much more difficult journey without the support of Brenna.  She helped him with the cravings early on, which set him on the road to success.

When I started this, I knew I was going to lose weight because I saw it happen for my wife.  I had no idea I would feel ridiculously amazing.

Rocky’s favorite product is mass-impact.

Help for Exhausted Moms

Jennifer Yebra Mallak was an exhausted mother of a 20-month-old son who no longer felt like herself and lacked self-confidence.

She worked nights at the hospital, where 12-hour shifts were routine.  By the time she came home, she was too tired to cook, socialize, or even play with her son.

In December 2011 I was wearing a size 16, which was the biggest I had ever been

Something had to change.

She was introduced to AdvoCare through a mixer and decided to start with the 24-Day-Challenge.  It took her a few months to give the products a chance, but once she did, she never looked back.  She felt like a new person during the Challenge–she lost weight and had new-found energy.  Because of her success, she continued taking AdvoCare products and opting for healthier foods after the 24-Day-Challenge.  She lost a total of 56 pounds over a three-year time span.

Presently, by continuing a healthy lifestyle, which includes exercise and good eating habits, Jennifer has kept the weight off and is very happy!  Before taking her health seriously, she would always cancel or make up excuses to avoid spending time with friends.  Now she works out at a local gym, volunteers at her son’s school, and loves spending time outdoors.  She also loves experimenting in the kitchen with nutritious recipes to change up her diet.

I’ve learned how to incorporate healthier options into my diet so it doesn’t have to be boring or standard.  I can bake chicken instead of fry it and go for whole grains.  I can keep up with my energetic little boy and teach him how to live a healthier lifestyle as well.

Easy ways to improve your diet:

  • Drink a Meal Replacement Shake for breakfast as a great source of fiber and protein in the morning
  • Eat small snacks in between meals
  • Try to eat something healthy every 2-3 hours
  • Choose whole grains instead of refined grains and baked or grilled meats instead of fried
  • Always eat your veggies

Nurse Sets Sight on Triathlon

Three years ago, Renee Lawrence depended on energy drinks and diet soda to get her through her 12-15 hours shifts as a cardio thoracic nurse.

She was training regularly at the gym and thought she was eating a healthy diet.  Her husband, Don, started using AdvoCare products first to lose some weight and get more energy to keep up with their five children.  Once Renee saw how much energy her husband had using the AdvoCare products and living a healthier lifestyle, she knew she had to try it, too.

She started with Blue Raspberryand found that she was more energized and alert at work.*

Afterwards, she started on the 24-Day Challenge and changed her family’s eating habits to cleaner, healthier options–while doing this, she started gaining muscle and endurance by continuing to work out and lost one pound in the process.  Since the, Renee and Don learned that they loved to run and have run several half marathons.

“Last year, I signed up for my first half marathon with my friend,”  says Renee.  “During training, I realized running actually helps to define your physique.  I added weight training, ate more protein and started using products like Thermoplus, mass-impact, and muscle-strengthto work toward getting more toned.  I also drank muscle-gainevery day for a snack.”

Renee now has three half marathons under her belt.  She is considering a triathlon and continues to run regularly, just to make sure Don doesn’t catch up to her half marathon finish time!

“Now our new active lifestyle is a family affair,”  explains Renee.  “Our kids are more active because of the changes we have made.  They lift weights and do box jumps with me, so my workouts have become a family event.”

Today Renee Lawrence knows that a scale cannot measure her success–it’s how she looks and feels that’s more important.

#NeverForget

Where were you 15 years ago today?  Do you recall that morning?

I worked for an aviation company named “Dallas Airmotive.”  I worked in the corporate office as a database administrator.  My former boss, Bill Barber, is a retired colonel from the Air Force; he came running into the office that morning shouting that a plane had struck one tower of the World Trade Center.  I was thinking that it must have been a freak accident.  When the second plane struck, my husband called and told me that we were being attacked by terrorists on our homeland.  I froze and began to pray.

Since I worked close to DFW Airport, we were not allowed to leave for quite a while, since all planes were grounded that day.  My older kids were in  elementary school and my youngest was only four.  Lots of parents picked their kids up from school, but ours stayed there.  We figured it was best for them to stay there.

ar-309119960-jpgmaxh500maxw765  I remember how unified the country was during this time.  Americans were killed by an evil enemy, and we wanted to conquer that enemy so that this would never happen again.  We were not Republicans or Democrats, just Americans clinging to one another; we grieved together, angered together, rectified together.

odbb4g-ap01091106270  Today, only 52 percent of Americans said they’re “extremely proud” to be American, a 5 percent drop in only three years, and a drastic drop of 22 percent since 2003, the worried, split year of the Iraq invasion.(recent Gallup poll) “In a country that now seems carved up by door-slamming disputes over race, immigration, national security, policing and politics,” ABC News recently concluded, “people impelled by the spirit of common purpose after Sept. 11 rue how much it has slipped away.”

What happened?

Politicians are now rewarded for extremism — the hard Left pulls Democratic candidates further in its direction while the hard Right pulls Republicans to its side of the table. President Obama  vilifies Republicans in Congress while Republicans in Congress place blame on the president for every problem in this country. Agreement, bipartisanship and mediation have little to no place in Washington today.

I want people to look back on how the country pulled together 15 years ago today and remember that America is at its best when we are unified, not divided.

Peace be with you.

The Power of the Products

Daily, people across the nation experience success in weight loss, renewed energy, and gaining a new level of physical fitness with AdvoCare products.  Whether you want to achieve overall general health, or an athlete who aspires to push their physical limits, AdvoCare has something for everyone.

After AdvocareThe girl that you see on the far right is my youngest daughter, Renee.  She has her high school diploma and has decided that she wants to join the Army and do something in criminal justice.  One major hurdle–she needs to lose 30 pounds and get in better shape.

She just came back home after completing North Texas Job Corps.  I am now going to focus in helping her obtain her goals physically and mentally, and so will her dad and sisters. She will start a 24-day challenge tomorrow, and we will be hitting the gym tomorrow morning.  I am very disciplined when it comes to taking care of my health, so I’m going to show her how it’s done!

I ask for your prayers as we begin this journey to help her succeed in her life and future.  I am very proud of the fact that she wants to serve our country and wants to be in some type of law enforcement.

I will keep you posted on how things are going.

Love,

AdvoCare Classic

AdvoCare Classic-Alabama vs. USC

The USC Trojans looked sharp in the early goings of their showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide. In fact, they even held the lead! Unfortunately for them, that would be one of the bright spots that the Trojans would have on Saturday night in Arlington. Alabama levied the boom on USC and walked out with a 52-6 victory as they chalked another opening game victory in the books.

I love college football!  My team happens to be the TCU Horned Frogs (my oldest graduated from there), but I’m always up for a good football game.  My pro team is the Dallas Cowboys, and my favorite Cowboy is Jason Witten (AdvoCare Endorser).

Another AdvoCare game that took place yesterday was the Oklahoma Sooners vs. University of Houston.  The Cougars upset the Sooners BIG TIME!  I don’t care for the Sooners, so this was fine by me.  I always feel that they are over-ranked, and Bob Stoops appears to be a jerk whenever I see him on the sidelines–that’s my opinion.

I always feel excited during football season, so you will probably see random postings about football in my blog this season.

Oh, and on a final note, TCU managed to beat South Dakota St. last night in Ft. Worth.  It was a nail biter for sure, but the Horned Frogs did come up with a win.  It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win!

Happy Sunday!
